Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

30/1/1981: Peter Crouch
30/1/1951: Bobby Stokes

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Peter Crouch and Bobby Stokes – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

I recall Crouch very well – he was a ‘who’ signing in his first spell at Fratton Park but returned a seasoned England international. Now, still going strong in the Premier League, you wonder if he couldn’t go on to 40?

Stokes I know of very well but he was a player before my time.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 11
Won – 3
Drawn – 5
Lost – 3

I didn’t do the most recent FA Cup defeat against Bournemouth at Fratton in 2016 and cannot recall being at the Middlesbrough league game in 2007, also at the Park, so think I’ve drawn a blank today.

What are your memories of Crouch and/or Stokes from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
