24/4/1976 Steve Finnan
Happy birthday to Robert Irvine and Steve Finnan – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.
Irvine is quite clearly before the time of anyone, but I would think most remember Finnan? Obviously wasn’t the player for Pompey he had been in his prime with the likes of Liverpool and the Republic of Ireland, but still did a decent job – when fit – at a difficult time for the Blues.

Another very good day as 50% of the games have been won, including a memorable one over our biggest rivals.
I four-one will never four-get the 4-1 win over the lot down the road in 2005, but I wasn’t at Fratton Park that day, I was limited to a watching brief on Sky Sports. However, I was at the win over Stockport at Fratton in 1999.
