Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

22/10/1962: Dave Leworthy
22/10/1965: Eamonn Collins
22/10/1971: Adrian Whitbread
22/10/1980: Darel Russell
22/10/1990: Tom Kilbey
22/10/1992: Caolan Lavery

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Dave Leworthy, Eamonn Collins, Adrian Whitbread, Darel Russell, Tom Kilbey and Caolan Lavery – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Leworthy and Collins were both before my time but I do recall Whitbread pretty well from the late 90s. Kilbey was one of those that was meant to be ‘all that’ but didn’t amount to anything in footie did he, albeit harshly treated by Steve Cotterill perhaps?

Russell was given a chance by Pompey when few others seemed to want him but swiftly jumped ship with Lavery enjoying a pretty successful loan spell with the Blues from Sheffield Wednesday.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 13
Won – 2
Drawn – 3
Lost – 8

Not a day to remember as defeats are common – I was at the Notts County defeat in 2016 and the win against Doncaster in 2011, a rare win, which was also at Fratton Park.

What are your memories of Leworthy, Collins, Whitbread, Russell, Kilbey and/or Lavery from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
