Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

22/1/1931: Charlie Dore
22/1/1964: Jon Gittens
22/1/1981: Ibrahima Sonko

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Charlie Dore, Jon Gittens and Ibrahima Sonko – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Dore was well before my time but do recall Gittens – even though I didn’t see too much of him when at Pompey in the earlyish-mid 1990s.

Sonko I can remember pretty well from him time with the Blues – by far the best defender we’ve had but also not our worst. However, he wasn’t great let’s face it.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 15
Won – 4
Drawn – 5
Lost – 6

A couple of games for me today, which includes the most recent draw with Leeds at Fratton Park in 2011. The other was way back in 2000 when we drew at Stockport. Pretty sure Russel Hoult saved a penalty in that game with Ceri Hughes scoring – both on debut for the Blues if I am correct?

What are your memories of Dore, Gittens and/or Sonko from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
