Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

22/8/1927: Jack Mansell
22/8/1975: Robbie Enes

NOT DONE

Happy birthday to Jack Mansell and Robbie Enes – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Mansell well before my time and not someone I can say I know much about.

Enes is another of those we’ll probably prefer to forget but I didn’t – unfair to say fortunately? – see him play for Pompey I do not think? In fact I’m not sure too many would have seen him for the Blues to be honest.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 14
Won – 2
Drawn – 5
Lost – 7

Not a good day as the 14 games has only seen two won with defeat – seven of them – a common outcome.

I do have two myself, including the most recent, an incredible draw with Morecambe at Fratton Park in 2015 – quite remarkable wasn’t it, given the fact Pompey were three nil down at half time but somehow we came back into it to snatch a draw in the end with former Bournemouth loanee Stockley scoring at the death.

The other one I took in was the defeat at Arsenal in 2009. The Gunners did, to be fair, batter the Blues that day but I’m sure we had some chances at the Emirates and were a little unlucky in some ways.

What are your memories of Mansell – I would think too early for anyone – and/or Enes from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
