Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

20/8/1955: Phil Figgins
20/8/1971: Steve Stone

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Phil Figgins and Steve Stone – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Figgins was before my time and I cannot say I know too much about him. However, Stone, who was a cracking player for Pompey, wasn’t.

His (Stone’s) time with the Blues wasn’t that long really but I think we can safely say we got the very best from a player at a time when he had suffered a fair amount of injuries with others before – and after to be honest – his time at Fratton Park.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 13
Won – 6
Drawn – 5
Lost – 2

Good few games played today with it also a good day with 6 wins from the 13 played.

I have a good recollection of quite a few of these games but can only claim the most recent one, 2016’s victory over Colchester at Fratton.

What are your memories of Figgins and/or Stone from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
