1/5/1984: Therry Racon
Happy birthday to Alexei Smertin and Therry Racon – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.
I remember both Smertin and Racon pretty well. Both had moments during their spells at Fratton Park to make them players, all things considered, worth recalling in midfield, didn’t they?
Now onto the games previously played.

Lost – 6
There hasn’t been a lot in it today, but defeats slightly outweigh victories on a day when Pompey generally win or lose.
I can recall a large number of games, claiming the most recent victory over Wolves at Fratton Park in 2010. The other I was at today came at Gresty Road, a defeat in the trip to Crewe in 1999.
