Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

19/10/1890: John Jarvie
19/10/1961: Kevin O’Callaghan

From the Ed

Happy birthday to John Jarvie and Kevin O’Callaghan – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Jarvie isn’t a name I can say I even know from Pompey days, clearly being born in 1890 he was not only before my time but that of anyone but a few would have seen O’Callaghan play for the Blues. He’s a player I do know of by name.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 17
Won – 10
Drawn – 3
Lost – 4

This has been a really good day for Pompey but I have only managed the one game. However, unsurprisingly given the amount of wins we’ve seen, it was a victory.

In all honesty I cannot recall much about the win over Bury at Fratton Park in 2013 but do know I was at the game.

What are your memories of Jarvie and/or O’Callaghan from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

  • Saw a lot of Cally, greta player for us under Alan Ball. He could half hit a ball. Fond memories.
There for the home games from 1985 through to 2013.
2002 and our first dropped points at home as we were storming the league on the way to winning the Championship.
