Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

18/12/1959: Kevin Dillon
18/12/1969: David Hillier
18/12/1969: Justin Edinburgh
18/12/1973: Tommy Berntsen

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Kevin Dillon, David Hillier, Justin Edinburgh and Tommy Berntsen – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Dillon is known well to me but not as the player – he was with Pompey in that capacity before my time.

The memories of Hillier and Edinburgh are better from days with Arsenal and Spurs, respectively. However, I saw them a good few times for Pompey – especially Edinburgh who has of course been ‘linked’ in a return to Fratton Park as our manager in the past hasn’t he.

As for Berntsen, he would have been around during my days of regularly following Pompey but cannot recall him to be honest.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 13
Won – 6
Drawn – 6
Lost – 1

I remember the games – on a great day, which has seen just the one defeat – dating back to the early 1990s and have taken in the last couple of games at Fratton Park.

Joel Ward’s equaliser against the Saints in that draw from 2011 kept the supremacy in the derby on the Blue half of the South Coast. I cannot recall too much about the goalless draw with Port Vale from 1999 though.

What are your memories of Dillon, Hillier, Edinburgh and/or Berntsen from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
