Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

18/8/1961: Keith James
18/8/1965: Martin Allen
18/8/1965: John Durnin
18/8/1980: Mark Burchill
18/8/1990: Kevin Long

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Keith James, Martin Allen, John Durnin, Mark Burchill and Kevin Long – the Pompey player from the Blues’ past born on this day.

James was before my time so I didn’t see him play for Pompey and cannot say I know too much about him either to be honest.

Allen, Durnin and Burchill all were all seen a number of times and recalled pretty fondly to be honesty – Allen and Durnin always gave it all they had Burchill started his Pompey career well with some goals but then it all went wrong…

Long wasn’t with us for long but his loan from Burnley was ok. Since his return to the Clarets he’s been loaned out to various clubs and made his Republic of Ireland debut.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 10
Won – 5
Drawn – 2
Lost – 3

Recall several games but have only managed the one myself – a draw with Bournemouth in 2012. However, I cannot honestly recall too much about it but that’s the case with most games in the modern times for some reason, not sure why?

What are your memories of James, Allen, Durnin, Burchill and/or Long from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
