Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

15/11/1971: Darryl Powell
15/11/1975: Boris Zivkovic
15/11/1987: Ryan Bird

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Darryl Powell, Boris Zivkovic and Ryan Bird – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

I didn’t see too much of Powell during the early to mid 1990s but recall him well with Pompey and clubs after – sure he is now an agent?

Zivkovic, well, I try to forget him as he came with such a good past and reputation with him a seasoned and proven Croatian international but arguably one of the worst footballers I can recall us having, at any level and any time.

Meanwhile, Bird wasn’t quite able to make the step up from Non-League, where he did so well and scored so many goals, to the Football League was he? Showed glimpses with Pompey but also ended up not quite cutting it with Yeovil and is back in Non-League now I think, or was he still at Yeovil.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 14
Won – 2
Drawn – 3
Lost – 9

I remember most of the games in the past 20 years or so and saw the most recent one on Sky Sports – decided not to travel for the draw with Wimbledon in 2015, which was probably a good call.

Therefore I can only claim the one game, which was in 2014. I think this was probably also on Sky and another to forget! I only decided the night before to go to Plymouth – a ‘home’ away game for me, given I live in Devon – after the thrashing at Home Park.

What are your memories of Powell, Zivkovic and/or Bird from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
