Happy birthday to Martin Phillips – the Pompey player from the Blues’ past born on this day.

I remember Phillips well from is time with Pompey – and in the game in general to be honest – but he didn’t live up anywhere near to the ‘£10m hype’ the great Alan Ball once felt about him.

There’s not been too many games played in recent times but I can claim one. This was a draw with Crystal Palace back in 1999 with a late, late goal securing us a point if I recall correctly?
