Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

13/12/1929: Lionel Phillips
13/12/1981: Liam Lawrence

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Len Phillips and Liam Lawrence – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

I only know of Phillips by name and reputation as he was long before my time, but recall Lawrence well. The former Pompey captain had his moments with the Blues but all in all I’m not convinced we quite got from him what we should have – or am I being harsh?

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 13
Won – 1
Drawn – 0
Lost – 12

Another blank day for me today as I’ve not taken in a game but recall a fair few – I had been due to travel for the defeat against Accrington at Fratton Park in 2014. However, bad weather prevented this, which is maybe just as well!

What are your memories of Phillips – probably too early for anyone – and/or Lawrence from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
