Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

11/3/1902: Joseph Quinn
11/3/1930: Tom Casey
11/3/1964: Paul Hardyman

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Joseph Quinn, Tom Casey and Paul Hardyman – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Quinn was well before my time with the same applying to Casey. I didn’t actually get to see Hardyman play for Pompey – I did Bristol Rovers I think it was late in his career – but know of him well.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 14
Won – 5
Drawn – 5
Lost – 4

Haven’t managed any of the most recent games – including the brilliant game with Manchester City in 2006 when Pedro Mendes scored ‘that’ goal – but can claim the win at Fratton Park over Nottingham Forest from 2000.

What are your memories Quinn – way too early for anyone, Casey – probably before the time of anyone reading – and/or Hardyman from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

  • Paul Hardyman, local to me & 2 years older did a decent job for us.
Very difficult to ever forget that Mendes goal. High up in the Fratton End & right behind the goal, what a moment.
Also there for the wins in 1989 & 2000. Fond memories of our thumping 4-0 win at Colchester last season.
