Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

10/3/1931: Matthew Gemmell
10/3/1968: Pavel Srnicek
10/3/1985: Lassana Diarra

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Matthew Gemmell, Pavel Srnicek and Lassana Diarra – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

I cannot claim to know anything about Gemmell as he was too early for me – I suspect he was most – but Srnicek I remember well. Admittedly most of my memories of the late Czech goalkeeper are from his time with Newcastle or West Ham, but I always liked the bloke.

Well, what can you say about Diarra. One of the finest footballers – arguably the best – we’ve seen in a Pompey shirt. Such a shame how his career never really caught alight other than the spell he had at Fratton Park, then again at least we got the best of him, so happy days.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 15
Won – 5
Drawn – 7
Lost – 3

I draw a blank today as cannot recall being at a game. However, I will be at Fratton for the meeting with Gillingham this afternoon.

What are your memories Gemmell – probably too early for anyone, Srnicek and/or Diarra from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?

PLAY UP POMPEY
