…that is what I am saying anyway – maybe I will be wrong but what the hell…

Dave Nugent is once again being linked with a move away from Pompey, and with the championship loan window opening at the end of this week several clubs are showing an interest.

Ipswich have been heavily ‘linked’, while his former club Preston have also admitted that they would be keen to take him back to the club, although they do not feel too confident about their chances.

To be honest I get tired of all the speculation surrounding the fella, he is not exactly ‘young’ young, but he is still young and is new to the top flight – and the step up is not as easy as people might think, particularly if you are not in the physical condition that is needed, as Nugent clearly was not.

He has gone away, had his hernia problem sorted out, he will be back in full training next week and as Jermain Defoe is cup tied, Kanu injured and in all fairness John Utaka is also badly out of form surely if we really do have ambitions to go far in this seasons FA cup we need to have him around?

As someone said earlier this week despite the fact that he could not drive himself at that point in time because of the surgery he had undergone he was the first player to arrive at Fratton Park last weekend when we faced Chelsea – do these sound like the actions of a fella that wants to leave? I think not!

Admittedly, he will have to go some to get in the side, but he keeps saying he is up for the battle, and can only learn from those around him. And my honest opinion is that the long term future would be very bright with him playing a part in it.

By his own admission he has not had the best of times with Pompey so far, but as I keep constantly saying I feel he has a very bright future ahead of him and still do feel it will be here… although we all know with Pompey you can never tell what might happen!
