I love Portsmouth Football Club and ONLY want what is best for this club, although as much as it angers me that this has happened the fact that Genoa have FAILED to make a payment on Kevin-Prince Boateng leaves me somewhat conflicted on what to think…

Of course when negative actions are impacting on this club it hurts me like it hurts them, in fact it probably hurts us fans more as we know this is not something that we can walk away from, although lets not forget that we HAVE done similar things ourselves to other clubs, other businesses and various members of staff in the past.

Clearly we are in a desperate position where we need money and an overdue payment of £1.2m from early September – with another payment due early in October – will hit us hard but lets face it, with some clubs more than others, our lack of payments hurt them, as did the lack of payment to businesses and the lack of wages to players and staff last season, more so the staff.

Admin Andy running his mouth about this, that and the other is going to do little to help the situation – just get the situation sorted, and in private where possible instead of airing the laundry in public one again. So, I find it a little rich that we have too much of a nerve to knock others as publicly as some personalities have in recent times for similar actions as we carried out but in many ways the ‘buy now pay later’, usually much, much later, is so much of what is wrong with football and is what causes these issues!

Having payments payable over so many instalments, usually over so many years, with so many add-on clauses thrown in has left football in a right mess – if you do not have it you should not spend it, so if football operated in a way more inline with that it would be much better and football would be played on a far level playing field.

Now for Genoa to pay up – perhaps this latest instance of a non-payment from a club should see the football authorities look into some form of punishment for non-payment of payments due that is severe enough to make clubs ‘think’ more about the actions before the do them, or not…
