Not Expecting A Win…But It Wouldn’t Surprise Me

|

When you’ve made the kind of start Pompey have to a season it is understandable confidence is high, it should be.

However, as ever though, we can’t overstep confidence into arrogance…

I’ve got to say, I’d be lying if I said otherwise, I’m confident going into this game at Coventry. No, that’s not to say I’m expecting another Pompey win, but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if it happened!

What can we expect from Coventry? To be honest, I’m really not sure. The Sky Blues have had a bit of a mixed bag, winning some, drawing some and suffering defeats, basically in equal amounts. I guess to say it’s been a “solid return” to League One would be accurate?

The former Blues players in the Coventry squad – they do still have some, right? – will hope to have an impact against us as a club, in some cases ex-teammates. However, quite rightly so too, Conor Chaplin will not feature for the home side under the terms of his loan agreement, despite it becoming permanent in January.

I think recent weeks have proven that if we fall behind we really shouldn’t be too concerned as there is a confidence and belief we’ll not only get back on level terms but then be able to turn the game around and win.

Ok, as an away game I’ll take a point, you usually would but Kenny Jackett, and this team; doesn’t appear to be settling for points these days, we’re playing to win. I fancy us to score goals these days, I’m also happy enough defensively if silly mistakes aren’t made.

In for a penny in for a pound, I’m going to say we’ll get another three points to not only retain our unbeaten start but keep our place at the summit too.
