Pompey, as was the case on Saturday against Southend, go into the meeting with Peterborough in a better position than our opposition, for what this will be worth this evening.

It had been an impressive start from Peterborough but they’ve slipped down the table a bit and are currently 11th in League One, not that this means it’ll be easy as it won’t, Posh are still one of the sides that could be there or thereabouts come May.

Kenny Jackett told portsmouthfc.co.uk: ‘They are one of many teams who are chasing those top places and are in a good position to do so, as we are. Peterborough started off like a house on fire, but this is a tough division and there’s a lot of quality in the top half.’

The boss sees them as one of those who are always ‘playing the best football’ in League One, which makes a difficult job harder.

Yes, it’ll be tough at London Road but having started the week with a win over Southend at Fratton Park on Saturday the boss now wants another against Peterborough with a perfect nine points from the week the target, finishing this at Fratton again when Plymouth visit at the weekend.

Jackett added: ‘We’re not underestimating how hard it’s going to be, but a win has to be our aim. It’s a big week for us and we want a good total from the nine points that are available. Nobody’s going to give us that, however, and we have to work hard for every single one that we get.’

So long as we make the most of the chances we create and defend properly there’s no reason why the Blues cannot come away from Peterborough with another win – admittedly I’d be happy with a point mind.
