Weekend ‘rumours’ of an ‘investment fund’ interest from Italian family the Pozzo’s is ‘understood’ to be wide of the mark…

According to what sky sports ‘understand’ Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo, with the Pozzo family also owning Spanish outfit Granada, is ‘not poised to launch a bid for Championship side Portsmouth.’

The sky report went on to say that ‘contact was made by a contact close to Portsmouth with the Pozzos, with a view to investing‘, so at least some talks ‘probably’ took place but ‘the Italians have decided against investing at this current time, concentrating instead on Udinese and Granada.’

So that it would seem, for now anyway, rules the Pozzo’s out as potential owners for Portsmouth Football Club…

As much as I want this club to be saved, hand on heart, can I really say that I am in the least bit surprised that a group that would ‘seem’ to have a genuine interest in owning football clubs, for the right reason, would not be interested in PFC?

Well, no I cannot say that I would as there really does seem little to appeal to such people!

All the same I hope as much as the next person that something can be arranged to save this club once and for all…
