As he contemplates the offer of a new contract put to him, Svetoslav Todorov cannot escape the Pompey fans – even in the peaceful surroundings of St Vlas!

The Bulgarian international was left out of Stanimir Stoilov’s – Bulgaria’s boss – squads for the Euro qualifiers with Belarus, because he has not played enough 1st team football this season. So opted for a break in his native Bulgaria instead.

But not one for laying around, with him wanting to stay active he told The News that he would not be ‘lounging in the sun,’ instead he would be keeping active as he looks to keep himself busy whilst his future is resolved – those were not his exact words but I would assume this is what he is doing?

Even in the Black Sea though, as he told The News, he cannot escape the attentions of his adoring Pompey followers.

‘There are Pompey supporters where I stay.

‘I think they are shocked to see me.

‘One time an old lady who was about 70 came up to me and asked: “Are you Toddy?” I think she wasn’t sure because I wasn’t wearing a Pompey shirt!’

We get everywhere! Although if you think about it Toddy could this woman just not have been Bulgarian and recognised you for this reason?

Todorov was last week offered a new 1-year – take it or leave it – contract with the option of a second but it is very much expected that there will not be a second reprieve for the fans favourite and he is unlikely to return to the club again as a Pompey player? The added news that he will need to be playing regular football to play for Bulgaria makes this all the more likely for the 28-year old, as he is unlikely to get much action next season – unless we don’t sign anyone!

PLAY UP POMPEY!
