No Frown With Portsmouth’s Brown

|

The signings keep coming at Fratton Park, don’t they! Lee Brown became the latest at Pompey earlier this week.

I think we have to say Brown – whatever we think about him being needed or not – is another quality addition, who is proven at various levels in the English game. He has a wealth of experience, helping Bristol Rovers during their climb back through the football pyramid into League One.

A loyal servant to Bristol Rovers, Brown decided the lure of Pompey was too much to prevent him extending his stay with the Pirates.

Personally, I was hoping Brandon Haunstrup would be our first choice left back next season, but Brown’s signing would suggest it’ll be him taking up that position? You wouldn’t think he’d give up a first-team spot at a long-term club if he wasn’t going to be a regular on the south coast, right?

That being said, no one should be assured of a starting place and we’ll have to hope Brown’s presence can benefit and further push Haunstrup, who started to show his true potential at times during the 2017-18 campaign.

Admittedly, a left back wouldn’t have been a priority signing for me, but you can’t so no to a quality, proven and experienced addition that will further boost a decent squad, which makes us stronger. Brown’s addition should also push forward our hopes of a proper promotion push next season.
