The ‘Pompey plea’ to the football league for us to be able to bring in new recruits has been turned down.

This comes as a somewhat ironic twist on the day that PFC announced the arrival of a new head of recruitment…

Until more of the higher earners move on the football league will retain this stance preventing us from bringing in players, be that on free transfer or not or even on loan.

Lets face it, as limited as we are with numbers, this decision is not at all surprising is it and in many ways is the right one as we have a wage bill that is unsustainable and desperately in need of more players to move on so how could we be allowed more players to be brought in to add to this even if they would be on much, much less wages or not…

Yet at the same time we are in need of players to come in and allow us to be competitive – as if we did not already know this something needs to give, and quick!

This just further heightens the need for these big earners, we know who they are, to bugger off and whilst I think we should not expect them all to go I still think that a few more will start to move on in the next few weeks – lets just hope that it is the ones that we most desperately need to move on that will…
