Sulley Muntari has shown some pledge of commitment to Pompey and the fans but telling The News that he would ‘die’ for the cause: ‘I am going to die playing well for the team and for the fans.

‘Tackle and shoot, that’s my ability, and I have to do it and do it well. I believe I am now doing that’.

That is some show of commitment being shown is it not! To basically say that he would die for the club, as he has is some statement to make.

He did admit that initially he did have some problems adjusting to life in the premier league – which is understandable – but he has made this adjustment quicker than some players can, and some of them never can, so he now wants to kick on and show his very best.

Players quickly fall in love with Pompey when they come here, and it is little wonder due to our fanatical support and dedication the club gets from its supporters and it is due to this that Muntari wants to give so much back: ‘I am feeling good about myself and I’m hoping that I will give more and more and more to this club and the supporters.

‘They follow us everywhere and I will not let them down’.

We had seen flashes of Muntari’s brilliance, but in recent week in particular we have really seen the top class footballer that he is and he should get better and better, one thing is for sure we will miss him when he goes away to the African nations…

Saying the kind of things that he has will only enhance his reputation among the fans, but I believe that this has come from the heart with him and it is not being said ‘to score points’, it is being said because it is what he means and believes in.
