The thought of an already ‘threadbare’ team, let alone squad, being thrown out at Wembley was something that looked even more likely with player departures BEFORE the semi final feared, even though the administrators said this WOULD NOT be the case…

‘Reports’ had ‘suggested’ that players will go ASAP, although Michael Kiely has told The News this will not be the case: ‘what we have said is we will not be selling anyone until at least after the semi-final.’

Lets hope that this really does prove the case…

Quite who we will have available anyway is up for debate, given all the injuries that are piling up to an under strength squad anyway, but not having to ‘worry’ about players being sold before this date gives us – again depending who is fit, and if this does happen – a better ‘fighting chance’ against Spurs.

Quincy could still well return to Russia though with talks ongoing over a £250,000 payment for a return to Spartak Moscow 2-month early.

The News also says that Antti Niemi left ‘by mutual consent’ last week – this is the first that I had heard of this, not that it surprises me really. Although this does merely make his signing all the more farcical really!

That said surely he still deserved an official mention on The Pompey Site about his leaving? Assuming he has? And assuming I have not missed something?

It is also ‘said’ despite ‘rumours’ that offers have come in for a few players we have NOT had any official, or concrete, approaches made for any players, as of yet anyway…
