Pompey to sign Mirel Radoi?

The defensive midfielder was highly rated in the Romanian Division A last season.

Gigi Becali, the owner of Steaua Bucharest, has agreed to a deal. Although he is unwilling to name the club buying the player but reports suggest it`s Portsmouth (however Pompey had an offer for Emana accepted today.)

‘Look, I’m not just his godfather now, I’m also his agent’, he said, ‘we’re talking about a Premier League football team here.

‘The transfer is 90% complete. I will know 100% on Wednesday. I’m a business man, I asked for 12 million Euros for him, we negotiated and eventually we agreed on 11 million Euros.

The player is believed to have agreed a contract. ‘I sorted everything out, contract, salary, the deal is as good as done. I talked to Mirel as well and he said ‘Godfather, I’ll do as you say”, added Becali.

‘I’m reluctantly letting him go but I’m doing it for him, not for the money. I would have given him away for 10 million (euros) but we shook hands on 11,’ he added.

Milan Mandaric was apparently in Bucherest on Friday to agree to the deal.

‘Roach called me two days ago and asked me to put him in touch with Steaua,’ said Illie Dumitrescu.

‘A month and a half ago, the English wanted Mirel for 6 million,’ the former Romanian international revealed.

‘Gigi (Becali) said the offer was very low. If someone close to Steaua said that he refused the offer I wouldn’t believe them, but somebody from Liverpool phoned me and told me about Becali’s refusal.’
