==========
STATEMENT FROM SULAIMAN AL FAHIM
As PFC fans will be aware, I cancelled a planned meeting for supporters that had been scheduled for this evening.
This was primarily because I felt it would be a distraction to the game tomorrow, and thought it would be better to meet with fans on Saturday evening or Sunday, after the game.
I also had a major business commitment on Friday afternoon that I could not release myself from.
However, having spoken with some fans, I accept that this may have been an oversight on my part, and therefore tonight’s meeting will go ahead as scheduled – at the agreed time and place.
During this meeting, I hope I will get the opportunity to allay any concerns fans have.
My apologies for the confusion.
Can I also take this opportunity to clarify the remarks that have been attributed to me in the Spanish press.
I did not in any way suggest that there would be no funds available for transfers until next summer.
I was responding to a question regarding whether the club would consider signing major Spanish stars such as David Villa, to which I replied that not until after the infrastructure of the club and other issues were sorted – i.e. certainly not in January!
My remarks have been both taken out of context and clearly lost in translation.
I very much look forward to meeting with the club’s supporters this evening to clarify the above.
