Matt’ll Do Nicely

|

Assuming, as would be expected, especially as his parent club have been promoted to the Premier League, Matty Kennedy is released by Cardiff he could join Pompey this summer.

Kennedy, if you were to ask me, struggled to make much of an impact at Fratton Park, certainly during the second half of the season. In fact, he failed to start a game for the Blues from February onwards.

In fairness, an ankle injury did hamper Kennedy, which opened the door to others, such as Kal Naismith, who has obviously himself been released.

Kenny Jackett’s in the market for left-sided players, so Kennedy fits the bill and would be a free agent when his Cardiff contract ends on June 30th. However, Jackett also said any deal would be dictated by finances, but the boss is definitely interested in the winger.

Perhaps a fully fit Kennedy, playing regularly, would do the business? But, in my opinion, he didn’t do enough when on the south coast. All too often he appeared to run down blind alleyways or tried to beat his man one too many times.

Ok, Kennedy did have his moments, but I’d not be prioritising his signing over others to be honest. If either of the former Cardiff loanees did come in for keeps I’d sooner this was Stuart O’Keefe.
