Harry Redknapp has told The News that he has not heard of any interest in Benjani, despite reports that he was ‘unsettled’ in England and would like a return to France – with Marseille said to be ‘monitoring the situation.’

‘It’s the first I’ve heard of Marseille’s interest in Benjani.

‘Benjani has done okay. He works hard for the team and scored half-a-dozen goals last season. I need strikers around. I need at least one, maybe two more strikers this summer. You’re in trouble if you haven’t got people to score you goals.’

Yep we are in trouble without players to score goals!

In terms of the goals that he has scored Benjani has at best done ‘okay’ but for his all round play and work ethic I would think you would be hard pushed to find a better forward in this country. Put a player alongside him that can score goals and we will have a great partnership in the offering.

Benjani appears happy enough at Pompey, the fans love him so unless he is missing France why would we ever want to sell him?
