Maurizio De Giorgis, the agent of Roberto Mancini, has ‘claimed’ that the Italian does want to hold talks with Pompey about the vacant managerial position but actually taking the job is not going to be an easy thing due to an ongoing dispute with his former club Inter…

Apparently he ‘is still under contract at Inter’ despite being replaced by the then, and current, Serie A champions! A contractual dispute is still ongoing and until this is resolved with Inter it would appear that he cannot take on another job?

Sunderland and Pompey are both clubs that would be spoken to ‘if we were contacted’ according to the agent and any club interested in England ‘doesn’t have to be one of the ‘Fabulous Four’ clubs, but it has to be a club with ambition and the desire to win something.’

Well if the Italian does want to speak to us then I suggest that he and his agent sort out the ‘problems’ that they have with Inter to free him up to do so – I would guess that they could have up to 3-weeks or so to do this, as our due diligence process could take that long, maybe, and quite possibly longer? Then again it could be much less and ‘might’ be completed this week, although I really, really doubt this.

No one really knows how long this will take, as I keep saying though patience is the key!

One thing that I would guess we do know is as soon as this due diligence is complete, and god willing this will be fine, we probably are not going to hang around too long in looking to appoint our new manager and there ‘appears’ to be no shortage of top candidates in the running, and I would imagine once Dr SAF’s takeover is complete others may well lay their cards on the table as well…
