…well certainly the best keeper that Niko Kranjcar has ever played alongside as has told the Pompey Site after the keepers heroics saw us beat Plymouth yesterday: ‘we weren’t on top of our game and they dug out an extra yard. It was hard.

‘We shouldn’t be going behind early in games like we have in the last two, but we didn’t drop our heads and fought back.

‘But Jamo allows the team to have an off day and keeps you in the game with his great saves. We could have gone 2-0 down against Plymouth – and Derby a week earlier.

‘He’s a massive, massive player for us.

‘I think he’s the best goalkeeper I’ve ever played with. His form is outstanding. It’s everything – anticipating crosses, saving shots, one-on-ones: he gives you a lot of confidence’.

We were not very good yesterday – that is not to take anything away from Plymouth as they were very good – and although Lassana Diarra is rightly being given all the plaudits from an outfield point of view James made several fine saves that not only kept us in the game, but then kept us ahead.

Fabio Capello names his first England squad this week – I think – and he will surely find it hard not to pick him in this squad.
