We get to know a little more about Midge.

1 – Vital Pompey username?
Midge.

2 – Where do you come from/where do you currently live?
Born in St Marys Pompey (not that Scummer version) live in Gosport.

3 – How long have you been a Vital Pompey member?
Not 100% sure but probably about 2 years. (Written early February 2008.)

4 – What do you think of Vital Pompey? Be brutally honest!
It’s a good place to vent, even if sometimes it turns out you got it wrong, that’s life. Didn’t like Vital under the old regime, as I sent a few comments/replies and the old landlord used to remove them if he didn’t agree, but I’m glad that’s all changed. Everyone has opinions and no one can say anyone else’s opinions are wrong, just because you don’t always agree. So in all honesty I do like the website and I think you do a good job, cant say 100% otherwise I’d sound gay lol.

5 – How did you find out about Vital Pompey?
I found it via News Now.

6 – When did you first watch Pompey live – not on box unless this is the only way you have been able to see them? Not necessarily at Fortress Fratton though.
Wow now you are asking, I believe it was game against Plymouth in the OLD Fratton end, all wood, damp and cold. It would have been approximately… 1976-1977???

7 – How often do you get to watch Pompey?
Season Ticket holder so every home game, and a couple of away’s if funds allow it.

8 – Who is your favourite Pompey Player – current and/or former?
Very hard call. I would say for skill… Prosinecki. For other reasons.. cheeky goals, importance of goals etc Toddy.

9 – What is you favourite Pompey moment?
Penalty as Wigan that kept us up (I was at that away game thankfully). Feels now, as if it was the line drawn under our past where every bubble seemed to burst and things always seemed to go wrong (fingers crossed from then on things have just got better). Mind you, the few minutes waiting for the Brummie game to end was agonisingly long, but the feeling and atmosphere when Harry eventually got signalled that it was all over was absolutely awesome.

10 – What are your realistic hopes for Pompey in the future?
I just want us to move forward gradually, so we can all see it unfold and appreciate it. Slowly and gradually suits me. I don’t wish us to spend silly money and be accused of buying our position. Sasha and his approach suits me, and I think we can all savour every minute more this way.

Pompey in the Future? Well I hope we get the ground next, and can start looking like a top team with a top ground, and I obviously relish the idea of an FA Cup win or 2, and dabble in Europe (UEFA? Champions league? Both over next few years? I’m not greedy.)

Hope this works for you Rug? Thanks for the invite.

  • yep Midge it does indeed work – thanks for sharing your thoughts, good to get to know you alittle better.

  • Midge is my cats name and a keen fan too!! Now Plymouth at home a popular choice for first game – mine too! But was it the 2-0 win on Valentines Day 1976 won 2-0 goals from Busby and Macken (both on loan) or the 5-1 debacle in March 1978 an evening game. Both season ended in relegation!!

  • a year on and i am pleased with i wrote back then, seems strange though as we did get the fa cup, and we did so europe, and i still hope its not the last time for both
