We get to know a little more about jbaker.

1 – Vital Pompey username?
jbaker – not my real name, just a ‘guise’ that I used to use to express my opinions on sites where people tended to be offended. Just to protect my identity, and its stuck.

2 – Where do you come from/where do you currently live?
I was born in Swindon, but live in Reading, and have done for 15 years. My Dad is from Portsmouth, which explains why I’m a Pompey fan. When I go off to Uni, my main priority was a good uni and near to Portsmouth. So if I get any offers from Exeter or Southampton, I guess I’ll be staying there for the next few years. If not it’s my only offer so far – Sheffield. No Premier League football there!

3 – How long have you been a Vital Pompey member?
Ermmmm, I think I had an account around the time of D’Alessandro joining, but under a different username, and I hardly ever posted as I was given a long password and didn’t know how to post on the front page. (Written in early February 2008.)

4 – What do you think of Vital Pompey? Be brutally honest!
Its sooo much better than any other site that I’ve come across. It’s really good to talk to other people that are as enthusiastic about Portsmouth as myself, and my Dad works in London and my mates don’t want to here about Portsmouth, so this site keeps me sane! It’s amazing to see how much the site has improved over such a small amount of time, no doubt down to the hard work that Rug and everyone else puts in. (Is that brutally honest enough?)

5 – How did you find out about Vital Pompey?
Newsnow. Vital Pompey had all the most popular stories.

6 – When did you first watch Pompey live – not on box unless this is the only way you have been able to see them? Not necessarily at Fortress Fratton though.
It was sometime in October, first year in Premier League, vs Blackburn. I was ‘treated’ as I had a German exchange partner over, and I’ve pretty much been going ever since. In fact I saw every Portsmouth away game at Elm Park (in Reading), but I had to keep quiet as I was in with the home fans.

7 – How often do you get to watch Pompey?
Never used to apart from on the box, as it was too much effort for my Dad to take me when we had Reading on our doorstep (I’m also a fan of football in general).

8 – Who is your favourite Pompey Player – current and/or former?
I loved Linvoy as a Reading player, and even more so as a Pompey player, so I would like to say him. But the attitude that Benji has shown over the last few years has made him my favourite. Matt Taylor is also a Legend in my eyes.

9 – What is you favourite Pompey moment?
No competition. Winning 7-4 against Reading. To go back to sixth form on the Monday, having endured the taunts of my Reading season ticket holding mates when they finished above us in the league last year, was unbelievable.

10 – What are your realistic hopes for Pompey in the future?
After what Harry’s been saying to the press this week, I should hope that if we attempt to come 4th, then we should naturally finish in the European places. However my main priority is the FA cup. I’ve only been to Wembley for a Muse gig, so to go there as a Pompey fan would be the ultimate dream.
