Pompey have confirmed that Brian Kidd has joined the Pompey coaching staff and will help out caretaker manager Paul Hart, becoming his assistant.

Had Tony Adams brought in someone with the experience that Kidd has, and to be honest not getting in a vastly experienced man to act as his assistant did not do him any favours did it, then maybe he would still be here? But there you go…

Anyway, the appointment of Kidd only adds to the ‘Sven Goran Eriksson could very well be on his way’ thoughts, as the former Manyoo assistant of course worked closely with him during his England days and only health issues saw the pair part ways.

Despite the media claiming ‘he had turned us down’ this is not actually the case; he merely said that he has a job to do with Mexico – he is hardly going to say that he is going to take the job is he. He has since said that he is ‘flattered’ by the link.

With this latest development, the appointment of Kidd, I think I have shifted to a 60:40 that the Swede could be appointed – not that I am getting carried away of course!

I am not trying to brush over issues, but other news from today such as Peter Storrie saying that Adams was unlucky but had to go, Johnny Metgod thinking that the axe was wielded too soon, not to mention Jamie’s Dads thoughts along the same lines are all issues that I will not cover in too much.

This is not because I ‘cannot be bothered’, but to be honest I think we have all just about said all we can about the departure of the last man – I am still saddened by it, but I guess we do have to move on…
