Soon to be Pompey owner Dr SAF last night, well early hours of today, is ‘said’ to have told Arabian reporters that Ahmad Khalil and Hamdan Al Kamali would be joining Pompey – this has been ‘confirmed’, well sort of by Khalil at least…

He is ‘said’ to have told Gulf News that ‘there won’t be any contract with the club, it will be only for a three-week trials with them.’

So, it appears that the initial move to Pompey – assuming Dr SAF’s takeover goes through, as it will – will only be for a 3-week trial during some of pre-season, then I guess if he impresses whoever our management are at the time this could become a permanent transfer from Al Ahli?

The teenager, who I believe was named the young Asian footballer of the year, was believed to have previously had a trial with Chelski, but might not have in actual fact if you can read much into what he also said: ‘it will be a new experience and I am happy I have been chosen to join one of the clubs in the English Premiership.’

Taking Khalil on trial, if of course we do, seems an even better proposition than the one we looked to be faced with – this ‘should’ leave us in an even more ‘win-win’ situation, if things do not work out then we send him back, if they do it is a bonus!
