I thought that it was already decided – to be fair though there has still been speculation – but The News is today reporting that Joe Jordan is beyond doubt staying with Pompey to work alongside Tony Adams, with a handshake agreement taking place.

Adams has always maintained that Jordan would remain a part of his coaching staff regardless as to who came in, but the lack of communication from the Scot left some thinking that would not be the case – and maybe that when a new assistant came in Jordan would go?

So far the efforts to bring in further coaches have been thwarted, but I do not think that Jordan is being viewed as a ‘fall back’ option, it always made perfect sense to keep him as part of the set-up regardless as he has the quality and experience that we need, not to mention that added edge of continuity, again something that we need.

The Tony and Joe chant appears as though it will remain the converted Harry and Jim one for the foreseeable future then?

The same report also ‘confirmed’ that the club had confirmed chief scout Ian Broomfield had indeed left Pompey – something that had been speculated. This is a blow, now we just have to hope that further scouts do not follow him, with Spurs likely to be his next destination.

The part that he, and the other coaches have played cannot be underestimated – so I thank him for his efforts, but as said yesterday losing him – and coaches that are reportedly interesting Harry Redknapp, if we do – could do more damage than losing players might…
