The reactions from those within the club are now drawing to a close with two of the most influential and important members of the clubs set up, coaches Joe Jordan and Tony Adams who also spoke to sky sports.

Jordan believes that we did enough to warrant the special cup win, which took some time to sink in: ‘I think it’s just sinking in, I think even for players as experienced as Kanu, to win the FA Cup is something special.

‘I think the boys are savouring every moment, there was a lot of pressure to win it and it was a very tough game.

‘They (Cardiff) had a lot of possession but the resilience and experience of the players was there, the likes of Sol Campbell and David James, and for the majority of the game I thought we played well.

‘We lived through some nerve racking moments, but we got there in the end.’

The cup win of course brings with it a place in the uefa cup, and although he admitted we could have done this through the league, getting in whatever way means we have something even more special to look forward to next season: ‘what a bonus. We thought we could get in through our league position but slipped up. It’s special, there’s nothing like playing in Europe.’

Adams was delighted for Harry Redknapp, as the cup win was a fitting way to end what has been a difficult season for him for varying reasons throughout: ‘I’m delighted that he’s got a lovely trophy on the side, because your problems are made a lot better with a medal around your neck.

He is also hoping that this can help to raise the profile that English coaches have abroad, which he thinks is very poor, so asked if it would he said: ‘absolutely, our reputation in Europe is very poor.

‘But the more times we win the FA Cup and get some jobs with some big clubs, then hopefully they’ll be a few more English coaches in the future.’

Both Jordan and Adams have played a huge part in our season, and indeed the past few years… hopefully long may it continue, although Adams could perhaps be on his way this summer?
