On the eve of the FA cup final Admin Andy said that David James WOULD NOT be offered a new contract, so he would not be staying with Pompey.

Yet, and the latest contradiction to come over the months, he – and he was quoted by ESPN Soccernet last week saying James would be leaving – has now ‘denied the claims’ that James will not be offered the chance to stay, telling The News that an ‘informal offer’ has been made: ‘two weeks ago we met with his agent, Colin Gordon, and said we wanted David to stay.

‘There are financial considerations, but we have informally made an offer to him and hopefully we’ll move it on in the next few days.’

Who knows what will happen with Jamo, the one thing that I do know is that if the guy is willing to stay then we need to let him do this – I cannot see him refusing the contract offered to him, as money is not his motivating factor is it?

At least is should not be!

He would be the undisputed no.1 for us next season and his presence would be worth at least 10pts I reckon – this could make all the difference in a ‘possible’ relegation, or dare I say it, promotion battle that we ‘could’ be involved in…

For me it has, and in all honest for the vast majority of the time, always has been a no brainer – tie the guy down!

Time will tell if Jamo will become the first, of what are said could be ‘several’ players that are asked to stay…
