Ouch, that was painful viewing last night was it not?

As Brazil were dismantled by Germany at the world cup, incredibly at the semi final stage, some text messages were exchanged by myself and some family and friends.

It often happens that some form of ‘Pompey connection’ is made in most footballing conversation and sure enough we did this, talking about how unorganised and shocking it was – very much a ‘one man side’ so to speak eh!

Much of it all to familiar to what we had seen from Pompey at times in our recent past…

From the off, in the world cup, Brazil had looked ‘ordinary’ but take out their star men in Thiago Silva and Neymar and so it proved with thoughts along the lines of ‘even at our worst last season Pompey would have beaten Brazil’ shared.

We were awful at times, at our lowest, but we would have you suspect!

My favourite one though was the ‘puts a new meaning on “its just like watching Brazil” does it not’ line…

Watching Brazil was certainly just like watching Pompey at times, if only those shoddy showings from Pompey had come after this game as we could have chanted ‘its just like watching Brazil’.

Having said that I am glad, well I hope, that our worst from last season came then and will not come after last nights world cup mauling!

Fingers crossed that the only reference to ‘being like Brazil’ next season will be at a free flowing attacking best…
