Asked about the vacant Hull job following our defeat at Liverpool last night Avram Grant said: ‘I thought about leaving in January but I saw the supporters and said, ‘No I can’t do it.’

‘I stayed, I’m fighting for the club and do not have any intention to give up. This club has become very important to me.

‘I’d ask the new owner for some stability and I’m waiting for the day this club gets some stability.’

This has not stopped sky sports news from ‘fuelling the fire’ this evening with their latest ‘breaking news’ story one that says: ‘sky sources: Hull have approached Avram Grant over managerial vacancy.’

Although they also say that Grant remains committed to Pompey and would turn down any job offered to him at the moment due to this commitment…

You can never say never, history has proven this for us, although I do not think – and would like to think this will be the case – that he will abandon us at this point, then again will we ‘sell him’ if the price is right!? But unlike some I suspect ‘no’ is a word that he is familiar with and can say, as well as accepting having said to him, which I guess it would have been many times over the months!

UPDATE

Admin Andy has told sky sports that Grant is going NOWHERE and is staying until the end of the season, at least: ‘Avram has no plans to leave Portsmout.

‘He has given me his commitment to stay at the club at least until the end of the season.
