There had been a lot of talk that Richard Hughes could move on during this transfer window, but having got his first team place back – and being likely to hold onto this for the foreseeable future – it is looking less likely that he will be going anywhere.

Sheffield United have ‘reportedly’ been interested in signing him, but with him now back in the team with a number of players going off to the African nations shortly, after the impact he has made since returning to the side it looks as though he will not be going anywhere – for now anyway…

One player that does look like going to Sheff United though is Hughes’ former club and international team mate Nigel ‘the relegator’ Quashie.

Hughes always does a job when he comes, he never lets us down and always does his best for us. He may not be the most gifted of footballers but he keeps things simple and does not over elaborate, not trying things that he cannot do so I have no problems at all with him filling in as he has been, and probably will for a while longer.
