Harry Redknapp has spoken about Reading`s future in the Premiership and Portsmouth resent “slump.”

‘I said from day one that Reading would stay up, They are solid, they have terrific strength and a great team-ethic.

‘Even with practically a reserve team they ran Liverpool close at Anfield in the Carling Cup the other night and they have a fine manager in Steve Coppell.’

Harry is satisfied with Pompey`s season thus far despite three defeats from four;

‘Fifth or sixth spot is still open for the season. Most clubs in the division are capable of putting a winning run together at any time – just as everybody is also capable of having a losing run.

‘The top three will always come from four clubs – Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool – even though Liverpool are struggling to get there at the moment.

‘We are not in that category but if we win our next three home matches (against Reading, Fulham and Watford) we will be delighted with that and it will put us in a good position.

‘Manchester United away is in the middle of all those games and if you get a point there it is a bonus but I’ve got every faith in the squad.’
