Sidney Govou has been heavily linked with a move to Pompey over the weekend and if reports are true he has issued a ‘come and get me plea’…

According to his agent, Frederic Guerra, the player not only wants to come to England, but the thought of a move to Pompey appeals to him: ‘Sidney wants to come to England and is interested in Portsmouth.

‘He is at an age where he wants to move. He has made that decision.

‘But at the moment I don’t know if that is possible.

‘I have heard that Harry Redknapp may be interested.

‘But Harry has not contacted me and nor has anyone from Portsmouth so far.’

Links first started last summer, so if previous history is anything to go by when we chase a player for that long we usually get them eventually – maybe this could prove the case here with the 28-year-old French international, who has 31 caps to his name.

Other clubs in England are ‘said’ to be interested, along with teams in Spain, but if he wants to come here and if we want him and can of course agree a fee with Lyon, believed to be £7m then chances are it will happen.

‘If’ we did sign him it could be as a striker or a winger, and with Peter Crouch also being ‘heavily linked’ I would suspect it would be as more of a winger to be honest?
