I know that Jimmy Bullard is not a Pompey player, never has been and most likely never will be, so really I should not give a stuff what happens to him, but I REALLY hope that the results of his latest knee injury come back positively.

The guy is one of the games most likable characters – some would argue that he was a mercenary as he left Fulham for Hull as they offered him more?

I could not say, what I can say is that he is a footballer that wears his heart on his sleeve, plays the game as you like it to be played and does this with a smile on his face.

It is NO accident that Hull’s form has improved since Bullard returned to the side, so technically – as his continued presence in the side could hurt us – I ‘should’ want him out for longer as Hull are a relegation rival!

I do not though, as I like the guy, and as much as I would not wish injury on anyone, there are some you would want this to happen to even less – for me, he is one of those people.

After a long time out with a knee injury you could see how distraught he was when he picked up another injury against Villa at the weekend – the good, or maybe bad, news was that this was not the same knee as last time, if that is a saving grace…

Like I say, whilst his absence ‘might’ see Hull struggle more, I genuinely hope that the results of his knee scan come back favourable for him and his absence from the game will not be too long.
