The worries that I – and others – have had that Gary O’Neil could be sold appear to have settled as Harry Redknapp has said in The News that he is not for sale.

‘There’s no chance of Gary O’Neil going anywhere. I don’t want to lose him at all. Of course not. He’s important to us.’

Those of a cynical nature may well be thinking that Redknapp is bound to say such things.

Maybe so, but amid the ‘speculation’ that has grown over the weeks that he could be used as bait to bring Yakubu back a departure has never been ruled out – until now.

Hopefully this puts the matter to rest.
