‘Reports’ that Gary McAllister could join the Pompey coaching staff first surfaced yesterday morning, although these said he was going to be a coach and not the new no.2…

Late in the day BBC Sport ‘confirmed’ that Gary Mac would be taking up a role with the club, and would in actual fact become Paul Hart’s no.2. To be fair to the BBC they are ‘usually’ pretty on the ball, are they not?

Today he has told The News that he is, or maybe even has come down for a ‘chat’ but would not say anymore: ‘I’m coming down for a chat but I can’t say anything more than that at the moment.

‘Things might become a bit clearer soon but I am going to have to leave it at that for now.’

If he wants a job and we want to give him a job lets get it done – we could do a lot worse!
