Forward Brings So Much To The Team

|

Victory over Fleetwood on Saturday, thanks to Oli Hawkins’ goal, was enough to extend Pompey’s lead at the top of the League One table to six points.

Hawkins’ goal, early in the second half, on 50-minutes in fact, came on his 50th appearance for the Blues.

What a way to celebrate, as he posted on social media.

I’m not sure Hawkins is to the liking of everyone, he’s certainly not a goalscorer in the Brett Pitman – who is one many would sooner see in the side – mould. However, the big man leads the line well and bring others into play, helping Pompey get the best out of them with the Blues certainly getting the most out of Hawkins himself.

The work Hawkins puts in is certainly appreciated, which resulted in his well-deserved goal.

It wasn’t an easy afternoon for Hawkins against Fleetwood, in fairness anyone, but he and we got the job done, which was the main thing.

Yes, I think it fair to say Hawkins does “bring so much to the team” and is more than just a big target man.

Ok, perhaps the thing I think I would say is he needs to be taking more of the chances he gets, as he can miss a fair few. Then again, it is better he gets into the positions and misses them than not have chances at all, right?
