I have only just picked up on this but according to The Express (here) our very own Steve Cotterill is one of the candidates for the vacant Forest job?

An article said: ‘Aston Villa first-team coach Kevin MacDonald is battling Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill and former Barnsley manager Mark Robins in the race to take over at Nottingham Forest.

‘MacDonald has been targeted to take the place of Steve McClaren and was interviewed for the post at the City Ground on Saturday.’

Given the views that I had seen when a move to take their former manager, as well as ours, Paul Hart back to the club in a kind of director of football role failed, as they could not payout compensation – around £500,000 – to Charlton I find it unlikely that they will get Cotterill?

Even though, and this is down to opinion, he is ‘under pressure’ at Fratton I cannot see CSI just letting him ‘walk away’ without a compensation payment paid to them for him, can you?

That said if they have doubts about his managerial qualities here they may let him walk as it will mean that they will not need to pay him compensation should they decide to part company with him in the coming weeks – something they would then need to do!

He is also being ‘linked’ with the job at Bristol City.

To be honest I cannot see him getting the Forest job, or going to Bristol City, then again you can never say never in football can you…
