Having arrived at Pompey with a groin injury that would apparently keep him out for at least two months, it is being reported by the BBC that Manuel Fernandes may be fit to make his Pompey debut by the end of the month.

The on-off move for the Portuguese International finally happened last week as the 20-year-old put pen to paper on a loan deal that should become a permanent deal for a fee between £6 and £10 million in January.

The clash with Bolton at Fratton Park on September 23rd is being pencilled in as the date for the highly talented youngster.

“Hopefully, without any setbacks, he will be involved with the first team by the end of the month,” would be the words of physio Gary Sadler.

This will be a massive boost for Harry Redknapp and the Fratton faithful. I for one can’t wait to see Fernandes play as he looks a fantastic footballer from what I’ve seen, and has been praised by some of the very best around.

Also it is hopefully that Glen Johnson, who has returned to Chelsea to have his ankle injury treated, will also be ready to return for the same match, again more good news for Redknapp and Pompey fans alike.
