Jermain Defoe showed once again tonight that if you give him the chances, or in this case a chance, he will score goals – as he did for England in a 5 minute cameo against Kazakhstan.

Only David James from our Pompey quartet managed to start the world cup qualifier, and Defoe was the only other Pompey star to get on – but he got on and scored the 5th goal in our 5-1 win. To be fair Emile Heskey had another good game so you can see why he was picked.

As the title says ‘feed Defoe and he will score’, so I reckon this is the new song that he deserves – it is a case of ‘feed the Yak and he will score’ for Yakubu, and probably most famously ‘feed the Goat and he will score’ for Sean Goater, so I say is it not time that this was used for Jermain Defoe?

Off the top of my head I cannot remember how the song goes that he currently has, but what I do remember is I am not overly impressed with it and often tell UKTony, who I sit next to along with his wife, when it is sung ‘he needs a better song’ – so as simple as it is could we not try ‘feed Defoe and he will score’…

It is more than fitting is it not!
